Karyotype:
This picture depicts what a karyotype of a child with ALD would look like. Because this is an X-linked trait, it obviously looks normal.
Pedigree:
This picture shows a pedigree, and shows that only boys can have the disease and not just be carriers. Only females can be carriers because they have two X chromosomes which is the chromosome in which this disease lies.
Progression:
This picture, shows the progression of a young male over the years.
Life:
As this disease progresses, so does life quality. People with a more progressed cases have to deal with seizures, muscle spasms, etc. More mental effects include difficulty in school, difficulty understanding spoken instructions and sentences, and decreased ability in verbal communication. Overall, it is harder to carry on a "normal" life as this disease progresses, which the progression of such is very quick. Although, some limitations might include, not being able to go to a public school, they may have to be home-schooled. They most likely will not be able to participate in vigorous physical activities. They would probably not be able to drive (if they lived to such age), as well as live on their own. Below, we will post a couple of support groups, and other organizations like us, trying to inform the public. These will inform parents of more limitations and other complications, as well as where to find a specialist nearest you.
